South Beach Engagement Session

I love Miami.  It’s one of the places I find myself driving four hours to visit, just because, at least once a year. When Liz and Brandon reached out to me all the way from Los Angeles for their April wedding in Miami, I was ecstatic.  More exciting was how they had found me through my Pinterest site, as I am an avid fan of pinning everything I love including some of my own pictures.  We met for the first time in person at South Beach Miami for their pre-wedding engagement session, literally a day before the Big day.  I knew we were going to have a great time, from our conversations on the phone to the emails in between. There was a happy radiance about Liz’s voice and her exquisite choice in choosing Miami, the location where the two first met, as her destination wedding location. My anticipation of drool-worthy wedding and e-session pictures by far exceeded all of my expectations.  Stay tuned for more pictures of Liz and Brandon on their remarkable wedding day…

Tampa Vietnamese Wedding

Words are strong enough to build an empire.  Thank you, Judy, for lifting me up with your words.  -XOXO

“Our wedding day went by so fast that there were so many pictures we were unable to capture- especially, me wearing my traditional Vietnamese dress that was custom made for my special day. I reached out to my dear friend and sorority sister, Sophan, for a post-wedding photoshoot, to take pictures of me in my dress with my husband.

Sophan was such a pleasure to be photographed by. What I love most about her photos are how bright, how vibrant, and how much happiness, and love, can be seen from each picture. She is so patient, and is so helpful in making the session as comfortable as possible. Hai and I are beyond awkward in front of a camera, and she made us feel at ease.

I would highly recommend Sophan. Aside from her beautiful work, she is such a sweet and caring individual. She went above and beyond what we expected, and even stayed longer than our session was scheduled for to take some shots when the sun started to set. I enjoyed every moment, and will certainly reach out to her again- especially for baby pictures!  Get your camera ready Sophan!”    - on WeddingWire

Emerging

Earlier this week, my friend Jacqui and I spent the morning photographing each other for updated headshots.  I am naturally insecure, and that for me has been a life-long internal struggle.  Despite having not lost my pregnancy weight after three years, despite being pretty nerdy in high school, and despite growing up in a strict family who were very good at suppressing emotions, I think it’s time to say, I’m really done with those feelings.  Jacqui Cole with the help of my friends from Lasting Luxe, made me feel something I haven’t felt in a while… beautiful.

Often I juggle with the question of revealing my truest and deepest thoughts to the world versus showing only my best, most professional self. A client recently booked me after having admitted I’ve been “stalked” on the blog for quite some time. That is actually very flattering to hear. When asked how the couple was first referred to me, I was told that after finding one of my weddings featured on Style Me Pretty, the reason was “beside the fact of your pictures, it was something about your spirit, just reading different aspects of your life and love for family.”

I strongly believe that the right people come into your life at the right time for a special reason. At this point in my life, I’m beginning to understand that it’s finally time to emerge, to grow into myself without fear or restraint. It’s not always easy, and I know everyone deals with some kind of insecurity and confidence issue, but I also know there will always be plenty of gentle hearts along the way to remind us of the beauty we hold inside.  At 31, that’s what I’ve finally come to understand.
